Gardening Workshop Tomorrow

This event is FREE and the children are welcome - bring some gloves to help work in the garden following the presentation!

Composting Workshop w/ Worms at Su Petersen's Goat Farm
Saturday, May 16, 8:30-12pm

The day starts at 8:30 with visiting with the goats. Composting with worms and soil management discussion begins at 9:00am with expert gardeners Merle and Michele Herrick. Su Petersen will speak about transplanting worms into the garden and general care of worms. Afterwards there will be some work in the garden. Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 260 and I-17, take Hwy. 260 3.3 miles east (away from Cottonwood). Turn right onto Quarterhorse Lane (right after the bridge over the Verde River). Take Quarterhorse Lane 1.1 mile and turn right onto Shill Road. It is the 2nd house on the left, 53 W. Shill Road. There's a large, white dog in the yard, so the gate to the driveway is always closed. Please park on the street.

  1. This was a great event! Very educational and informative. And the farm was a wonderful place for the kids! The hen that is mothering 4 ducklings was a big treat! We got to feed the goats, too, and pick some pecans right of the trees. If you need good soil for your gardening or worms for your composting, give Su a call!
